What Are Black Box Warnings?

A black box warning is the strictest warning put in the labeling of prescription drugs by the FDA when there is reasonable evidence of a serious hazard with the drug. The FDA is requiring a black box warning on Essure's label to warn patients of the injuries associated with the device.

What Are Adverse Events?

An adverse event is any undesirable experience associated with the use of a medical product in a patient. The event is serious and should be reported to the FDA when the patient outcome is:

How Does a Balloon Catheter Cause Blood Clots?

The Covidien Trellis 6 and Trellis 8 balloon catheters are intended to help dissolve blood clots. There are two balloons in place on either side of the clot. The balloons must be deflated in a specific order to prevent the blood clot from becoming dislodged and travelling to other locations in the body, including the lungs, and causing additional damage.
As a result of a manufacturing defect, the Covidien balloon catheters were mislabeled and doctors were unknowingly deflating them in the incorrect order. As a result, the catheters were dislodging blood clots and causing them to move to the lungs, creating a pulmonary embolism, which can be fatal.

am I responsible for expenses while litigating my case?

No. It is very expensive to finance a case during litigation. We understand that injured people and families are in no position to contribute to this cost. Instead, we agree to front the total cost of all expenses incurred during the prosecution of your case. We are repaid for this expense from the money recovered in the case only if we are successful.

How much does it cost for your firm to review my case?

It will not cost you anything. No matter how complex your case is, or how much money we spend on experts to help us review it, we will never charge you to review your case. This is true even if we do not take your case.

If you accept my case, how do I pay your firm?

Once we take your case, we do not charge you an hourly rate or flat fee. In fact, unless we are able to settle your case or obtain a verdict at trial you will never pay us anything. Only if we are successful in your case do we charge a contingency fee which is a percentage of the total amount we recover for you. The percentage changes depending on the complexity and expense of the case.
