Wrong-Way Crash in Lexington Leads to DUI Charges for Doctor

Posted on Dec 19, 2012

Early on the morning of Monday, December 3rd, 2012, a wrong-way accident in Lexington occurred along Man O’ War Boulevard near Clearwater Way. According to Lexington police, the wrong-way driver was arrested and charged with DUI and two counts of second-degree assault.

The crash took place around 5:00 AM and involved a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck. Seconds before the accident, a Lexington police officer saw the car speeding and going the wrong way without headlights.

This wrong-way accident resulted in a head-on crash with an oncoming pickup truck, causing the truck to flip. A driver and passenger in the pickup truck were injured and transported to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The names of those injured in the pickup truck have not been released at this time.

The driver of the passenger car was identified as 39-year-old Briana Lynn Boyd. Boyd, the driver of the wrong-way vehicle, is also an ER doctor and was reported to be uninjured following this Kentucky crash. According to reports, Boyd was a contracted doctor in the Knox County Hospital ER and has only worked there for the past three months. The website of the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure shows Boyd practicing in Bell County.

Boyd was taken to the Fayette County jail.

The section of Man O’ War between Clearwater and Osbourn Way was closed for several hours following this crash.

Our Northern Kentucky accident injury lawyers would like to wish those injured in this crash a full and fast recovery.
