Woman Killed in Oldham County Crash; One in Serious ConditionPosted on Apr 04, 2012
What is a normally busy road for morning commuters was closed Tuesday morning as crews were investigating the fatal crash. One woman was killed and another person was seriously injured.
According to Oldham County Police Officer Mike Head, the crash took place in the 5700 block of Highway 146, near Glenarm Road. Linda J. Smith, of Crestwood, was driving her 1995 Oldsmobile eastbound on Hwy. 46 and crossed over the center line. She collided head-on into a white Dodge van that was headed westbound.
This two-vehicle crash in Oldham County, Kentucky, caused serious injuries to the driver of the van, 48-year-old William L. Buntyn, of Louisville. He was transported to University Hospital for medical care and was last listed in serious condition.
The 64-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile was pronounced dead at the accident scene by the Oldham County coroner.
Crews were clearing the scene for hours, as the highway remained shut down between Buckner and Crestwood until 11:00 AM. Police are investigating this crash and are unclear why the Oldsmobile crossed over the center line. Police are asking anyone with information to call the Oldham County Police at 502-222-1300.
