Woman Files Suit Against Skechers Claiming Toning Shoes Caused Hip Fractures

Posted on Feb 24, 2011
Skechers, the manufacturer of Shape-ups, is being sued, after a woman claims that the manufacturer’s toning shoes caused painful stress fractures in her hips. Our law firm is representing the plaintiff, Holly Ward, a 38-year-old Ohio resident. She now has surgical pins in both of her hips due to wearing Shape-ups for extended periods of time.

Ms. Ward apparently developed severe pain after five months of wearing her Kim Kardashian endorsed toning shoes for work. The injury to the waitress eventually resulted in surgery and she now states that she is required to attend regular physical therapy sessions as a result.

“The extended use of these shoes has injured me catastrophically,” said Ms. Ward. “The femoral bone is the strongest bone in the human body and I fractured not one but two of them without being in a car crash or any traumatic incident.”

Many consumers have been drawn to Skechers’ toning shoes, which claims that their product can help you get in shape without having to go to the gym. Shape-ups have rounded soles and are designed to mimic the effect of walking on soft sand. Sketchers claim that Shape-ups help tone legs and thighs with every step.

Ms. Ward’s case is not isolated, as there have been many more reports of injuries from toning shoes.
