Watterson Car Accident Claims Life of 21-Year-Old

A Watterson car accident involving four vehicles claims the life of a 21-year-old man after he loses control of his car and slams into a concrete barrier. The incident took place at approximately 4:30 AM on Tuesday morning, May 4, 2010, along the Watterson Expressway.
According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the driver of a Honda Accord lost control of his vehicle in the westbound lanes of the Watterson Expressway, near the Third Street exit, and crashed into a concrete barrier. The driver, 21-year-old Benjamin Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. There were no other passengers inside of Jones' vehicle at the time of the crash.
The collision with the concrete barrier caused three other vehicles to crash into one another. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported.
Police discovered drug paraphernalia, including what appeared to be legal marijuana, inside Jones’ vehicle. However, police have indicated that there was no evidence that Jones had been smoking at the time of the wreck.
The early morning Watterson auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. No details were given as to what may have caused Jones to lose control of his vehicle.
