Verona Car Accident Kills Three

Posted on Nov 27, 2009
A Verona car accident involving a pickup truck and a Federal Express delivery van ends in the death of three people. The incident took place at approximately 4:00 on Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2009 on the U.S. 42.

According to Boone County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tom Scheben, Tamara Roberts, 45, of Warsaw, was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 at the time of the accident. She was driving in the southbound lanes of U.S. 42 at the Miller Owens Road exit when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and swerved sideways into the northbound lanes and into the path of a Federal Express delivery van. The delivery van was driven by Gary Hutchinson, 55, of Dry Ridge. Scheben said that the F-150 T-boned the van.

Rescue workers transported Roberts to a nearby hospital. However, she died en route to the hospital.

Robert’s son, Dillon Roberts, 11, and her father, Dallas Wallace, 70, were both killed in the accident. According to authorities, the three victims were not wearing seat belts when the incident took place.

Rescue workers transported Hutchinson to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence and was treated for minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation by local authorities. However, investigators believe that wet and slippery road conditions may have played a role in the accident.
