Two Killed in Louisville Head-On Crash

Posted on Jul 24, 2011

On June 26, 2011, two people were killed in a head-on collision in the 14000 block of Taylorsville Road near the Gene Snyder Freeway. Police said the Louisville car crash occurred Sunday night around 11:45 p.m.

38-year-old Melissa Graham, of Florida, was driving a tan Jeep Grand Cherokee that crashed head-on with Benjamin Koier, 19, of Fishersville, who was driving a red Acura.

Louisville Metro Police are still trying to figure out what caused the head-on crash, but they believe that one of the cars crossed over the center line and hit the other vehicle head-on. Investigators are in the process of determining which vehicle struck the other one first.

Carey Klain, a LMPD information officer, said "It is believed at least one of the deceased had a seat belt on, but again it's still early in the investigation and we're trying to determine all of the factors."

Sadly, both drivers sustained multiple injuries and died at the accident scene. It is unknown if excessive speed or alcohol contributed to this deadly crash. There were no passengers in either vehicle, and no other cars were involved in this accident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should call 574-LMPD.

We are saddened to hear about this tragic Kentucky accident and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victims.
