Two Kentucky School Bus Accidents Send Children to the Hospital

There were two Kentucky bus accidents recently that injured children and have parents asking if their children are safe on school buses.
On September 20, 2011, a Henderson County school bus was traveling on Kentucky 351 near Tillotson Road when it was involved in a collision. The school bus was carrying 32 elementary students when the Kentucky accident occurred around 3 p.m.
The bus driver told authorities that he reached the top of the hill at Kentucky 351 and Tillotson Road when the bus was sideswiped by a white flatbed truck.
Three children were treated for injuries immediately following the crash.
Another bus accident occurred the prior day in Jefferson County. About 30 students were on the bus on their way to school Tuesday morning, when the bus was involved in an accident. The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. and involved a truck being wedged partially under the bus.
Bus No. 9926 collided with the truck at Old Fern Valley and Fern Valley roads. None of the students on board the bus sustained any injuries. However, the truck driver was injured and transported to the hospital.
The initial police investigation found that the bus driver was attempting to make a left turn when it hit the pickup truck. The accident is still being investigated, and no charges have been made in either of the crashes at this point.
