Spike in Northern Kentucky Pedestrian Accidents

In late November, a tragic pedestrian accident in Louisville, KY occurred in the Auburndale area when a woman was hit by a motorcycle and died as a result of her injuries. According to Louisville Metro Police, the fatal accident took place on Third Street Road and New Cut Road.
Crash scene investigators indicated that the male motorcycle driver was traveling south on New Cut Road when he hit a female pedestrian while he was attempting to turn onto Third Street Road.
The injured pedestrian was transported to University Hospital, but sadly she was pronounced dead upon arrival. She has been identified as 66-year-old Tahira Alic.
After LMPD investigated this fatal accident, they indicated that they believe the woman was not paying attention and is to blame for the wreck. They are not expected to file charges against the motorcyclist at this time.
Prior to this pedestrian accident, another female pedestrian was hit at National Turnpike and the Outer Loop. The woman was in critical condition following this Kentucky pedestrian accident; however, police do not believe the driver was at fault for hitting the pedestrian.
LMPD said that there have been over 400 pedestrian accidents this year alone, which include 15 deaths. Surprisingly, about 30% are caused by pedestrians themselves.
