Philpot Car Accident Leaves Teen Dead

A Philpot car accident involving a hit-and-run driver leaves a teenage girl dead after she is hit by a truck. The incident took place over the weekend of March 5, 2010.
According to a witness, the 13-year-old girl was hit by a truck that swerved onto the wrong side of the road. The truck, which never slowed down, fled the scene, leaving the girl lying in the street.
The victim was taken to Kosair’s Children Hospital in Louisville where she was placed on life support. Unfortunately, the College View Middle School student died the following week from injuries sustained in the accident.
Tracy Howard, a friend of the victim, was walking with her at the time of the accident. “I told her a car was coming and I was already on the side of the road, but she was coming on the side of the road and that’s when it hit her,” Howard said.
The fatal hit-and-run accident is still under investigation by local authorities. The sheriff’s department believes that the vehicle that struck the girl is a 1980 to 1986 Ford Bronco. Anyone with information concerning the accident has been asked to contact the sheriff’s department or Crimestoppers.
This is an unfortunate accident and our thoughts and condolences go out to all of those who have been affected by this tragedy.
