Early Sunday morning, June 3, 2012, a fatal pedestrian accident in Hebron, KY occurred. Sadly, the 18-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, and the driver fled the accident scene. The Boon County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the crash occurred on River Road in Hebron.
John Pernell, the 18-year-old pedestrian, was walking eastbound in the westbound lane of River Road (Ky. 8) when the fatal accident took place. Police said Pernell was killed upon impact, as his body was thrown off the street; however, the driver continued on westbound without stopping.
Deputy Adam Schepis later stopped a driver of a 1999 Honda Civic on Northbend Road, just a short distance from the scene of the crash. Police arrested the Civic driver, 26-year-old Daniel Gose, for striking John Pernell and leaving the accident scene.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office charged Gose with DUI, second-degree manslaughter, driving with one headlight, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Officials say that the accident is still under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Unit, but the outcome of this crash has left one man dead and one man in jail.
Our Northern Kentucky injury lawyers at the Law Offices of Schachter, Hendy, & Johnson would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of John Pernell following this fatal wreck.
