A two-vehicle accident in Northern Kentucky took place on the morning of Thursday, December 6, 2012, killing one woman and leaving another woman with serious injuries. MetroSafe reported the tragic accident occurred in Pleasure Ridge Park around 5:44 AM on the Greenbelt Highway at Riverport Drive.
There were two vehicles involved in this fatal accident, including a white Ford panel van and a maroon Chevy sedan. According to Dwight Mitchell, a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson, the van was traveling north when it attempted to turn left onto Riverport Drive. When the van made that left turn, it collided into the Chevy sedan that was headed in the opposite direction.
There were two women inside the sedan who were critically injured in the wreck. Both women were transported to University Hospital for medical treatment of their injuries. Sadly, one later died, and the other woman is still listed in critical condition. The coroner later released the name of the woman who died in this Greenbelt Highway crash as 31-year-old Tiandra Martin, of Louisville. Martin was the driver of the sedan and died of blunt force trauma.
Authorities have indicated that the driver of the van remained uninjured following the crash. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, investigators did not find any signs of alcohol; however, it was determined that the driver of the van failed to yield to oncoming traffic when he attempted to make his left turn.
Our Louisville injury lawyers offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Tiandra Martin, and we would like to wish her passenger a full and fast recovery.
