Motorcyclist Killed in Louisville Semi-Truck Crash

Posted on Mar 22, 2012
After many people have died or been injured in the Kentucky storms and twisters that have touched down recently, there is yet one more death to report. Sadly, a motorcyclist was killed on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in a Louisville semi-truck crash.

According to reports by police, the fatal crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 near the Grade Lane exit ramp.  The crash took place just past 3:30 PM and brought the southbound lanes of I-65 to a halt.  Police closed down a portion of the interstate just south of Louisville from I-264 to I-65 south. The interstate remained closed for several hours after the wreck for police to investigate the accident scene and for crews to clean up the wreck.

The crash involved a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck, and a motorcycle. According to Louisville police, the motorcycle, truck, and tractor-trailer were all traveling side by side when the pickup truck went into the motorcyclist’s lane. This caused the motorcyclist to be pinned against the semi-truck and thrown from his bike.

James Savage, the 53-year-old motorcyclist, was identified as the man who was killed in this crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities confirmed that he died of multiple blunt force trauma.

Neither the driver of the tractor-trailer nor the pickup truck driver was hurt in this crash.

Our Louisville accident attorneys at the Law Offices of Schachter, Hendy, & Johnson would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of James Savage.
