Louisville Pedestrian Accident Leaves Victim in Critical Condition

On November 28, 2011, a female pedestrian was struck by a car in Fairdale early Monday morning, around 6am. According to Alicia Smiley, Louisville Metro Police Department spokeswoman, the pedestrian is in critical condition at University Hospital.
The pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of National Turnpike and Outer Loop. She was hit while she was crossing the street by a car just before dawn. Police did not give out the name of the victim following the crash, but they did indicate that this Louisville pedestrian accident injured a woman in her 20s.
The crash was a result of a drunken driver at the wheel. Smiley said that 32-year-old Heidi Diaz has been charged with driving while intoxicated, possessing an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, and driving without a license. Police are still investigating if Diaz ignored the traffic light. Diaz has been arrested and faces charges related to this crash.
The pedestrian was taken to U of L and was last listed in critical condition.
