Louisville Pedestrian Accident Claims the Life of Man Waiting at TARC

A Louisville pedestrian accident claims the life of a man waiting at a TARC bus stop. The incident took place at approximately 10:30 AM on Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010, at 23rd and Hill Streets.
According to reports, two vehicles were involved in a collision at 23rd and Hill Streets. The force of the impact caused one of the vehicles to careen into the bus stop striking a pedestrian. Rescue crews transported the victim to University Hospital where he passed away approximately an hour later from injuries sustained in the accident.
The two drivers were also taken to the hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were considered to be minor.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), one of the drivers apparently ran a stop sign causing the accident.
Neighbors claim that the intersection is dangerous because many drivers speed through it, ignoring the stop sign.
“We sit on the porch, my wife and I when the weather permits, and people come through here doing 40, 50 and sometimes 60 mph,” said local neighbor Luther Blakely.
The fatal Louisville pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time. We would also like to wish the two drivers a speedy recovery.
