Louisville Pedestrian Accident Claims the Life of Local Man

A Louisville pedestrian accident involving a car claims the life of a local man while attempting to get onto the sidewalk. The incident took place at approximately 3:30 PM on Wednesday afternoon, July 21, 2010, on Portland Avenue.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, a man walking with his family was struck by a car that was traveling westbound on Portland Avenue. The man sustained multiple blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, reported Jo-Ann Farmer, chief deputy coroner. The victim has been identified as David Logsdon, 21, of Louisville.
The man was reportedly walking with his wife, two children and an elderly lady in a wheelchair when the incident occurred. He was attempting to get his family onto the sidewalk when the car hit him. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported.
Police report that the driver stopped after the accident took place. The identity of the driver was not immediately made known.
The fatal Louisville pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have yet to determine why the driver hit the 21-year-old man.
This is an unfortunate incident and our thought and condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
