Louisville Man Killed in Meade County Accident

A Meade County accident involving a car and a Louisville man leaves a road surveyor dead when the driver slams on his brakes and hits the man. The incident took place at approximately 3:30 PM on Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2009 near the 2300 block of Old State Road.

The tragic accident occurred when a road surveyor with a construction crew was working on the side of Old State Road. According to Meade County Sheriff’s Department, a car was traveling over a nearby hill and slammed on his brakes when he saw the construction crews on the side of the road. According to reports, the car then spun out of control and slammed into the victim.

The victim has been identified as Vernon Findlay, 47, of Louisville.  Rescue workers transported Findlay by air to University Hospital. He was pronounced dead later that evening from injuries sustained in the accident. There were no other injuries reported.

Police officials have not released the name of the man driving the car that struck Findlay.

The fatal Meade County accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have not determined whether the unidentified driver will face any charges as a result of the accident.
