Louisville Car Accident Claims the Life of One, Injures Two

A Louisville car accident involving two vehicles claims the life of one person and leaves two others injured after one of the cars is hit while attempting to make a left turn. The incident took place at approximately 9:00 on Thursday morning, June 2, 2011, at the intersection of Greenbelt Highway and Trade Port Drive.

According to reports, a woman driving a beige Chevy Cobalt was killed after she collided with a Blue Taurus as it was attempting to make a left turn. Rescue crews transported the woman to University of Louisville Hospital where she was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The victim has been identified as Barbara Jeffries, 54, of Louisville. She was reportedly a monitor at Eisenhower Elementary.

Rescue crews transported two men who were in the other car to the hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately made available.

"There was an officer that was on Trade Port at the time that witnessed the accident," said LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.

The fatal, two-vehicle Louisville car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
