Lexington Dump Truck Accident Kills Local Man

A Lexington dump truck accident leaves a local man dead after two vehicles collide. The incident took place at approximately 8:30 AM on Sunday morning, January 30, 2010, on Old Frankfort Pike.
According to police, a 1996 Dodge Stratus slammed into the back of a stopped state Department of Transportation dump truck. The force of the impact caused the car to burst into flames.
Rescue crews transported the driver of the Dodge, Leon-Aquino Montesinos, 28, of Lexington, to University of Kentucky Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the accident. He was eventually pronounced dead at 10:21 PM that same day.
Adrian Tellez, 30, of Louisville, was a passenger in the Dodge at the time of the accident. He was also taken to University of Kentucky Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
According to authorities, the dump truck had pulled over and was assisting another motorist when the Dodge struck the dump truck. The dump truck had its emergency lights on at the time of the accident. According to a witness, the Dodge was traveling at a high rate of speed when it slammed into the truck.
The fatal Lexington car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
