Lexington Car Accident Claims the Life on One Man

A Lexington car accident involving three vehicles claims the life of one man after he makes an illegal left hand turn. The incident took place at approximately 10:00 PM on Thursday evening, May 20, 2010, near Yarnallton Pike and Leestown Road.
According to local police, a 25-year-old man made an illegal left hand turn from Yarnallton Pike onto Leestown Road. The man’s Honda Accord was then struck by a truck, which caused a third vehicle to hit the truck.
Rescue crews transported the unidentified 25-year-old man to UK Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later from injuries sustained in the accident.
Fortunately, the drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured in the accident. Their identities were not immediately made known.
Police have not yet determined if the slick road conditions created by the rain played a role in the accident.
“It’s (the rain) kind of been on and off for the past few hours,” said Lexington police Sgt. Billy Richardson. “Right now we just don’t have a reason for the collision, so it could be a factor. But I think at this point it’s too early to say for sure.”
The fatal Lexington car wreck is still under investigation by local authorities.
This is an unfortunate incident and our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
