Lexington Car Accident Claims the Life of 1, Leaves 6 Others Injured

A Lexington car accident involving three vehicles claims the life of one person and leaves six others injured. The incident took place at approximately 6:45 on Friday evening, May 13, 2011, along U.S. 64 West, outside of Lexington.
According to authorities, a 1997 Honda was traveling westbound on U.S. 64 when the driver crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 1997 Ford car head-on. That 1997 Ford was then rear-ended by a 2008 Ford.
The driver of the 1997 Honda, who reportedly caused the accident, has been identified as 55-year-old Deborah Marie Barnham. Unfortunately, she lost her life from injuries sustained in the accident. There were no passengers in the car with her at the time of the collision.
There were three people inside the 1997 Ford that was struck head-on, including the driver, 52-year-old Annitta Brockwell Crook. Rescue crews transported all three victims to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where they were treated for injuries. Their conditions were not immediately made available.
There were also three passengers in the third vehicle. The driver of the 2008 Ford has been identified as Brandon Joseph Robinson, 23, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. They were all taken to the hospital.
The Lexington car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Officials have yet to determine what caused Ms. Barnham's vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic.
This is a tragic accident, and we would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to everyone that has been affected by it.
