For four people in Northern Kentucky, the first day of February greeted them with a serious crash and multiple injuries. According to reports, the Dixie Highway crash occurred around 3:30 PM about one-half mile north of Chambers Road.
Police have not released much information following this accident, but they have indicated that a driver of a GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling southbound on Dixie Highway (US 25) when his truck collided head-on with a northbound Hyundai Elantra passenger car. Upon impact, the pickup truck was sent into a tree, and the car was left spinning in the road. The car ended up in the northbound lanes facing southbound.
This Northern Kentucky crash took place in Richwood in southern Boone County on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency crews arrived on scene to find at least four people who had sustained injuries. Dispatchers indicated that a child was found on the side of the road outside of the car following the accident, and that there was a dog traveling in the pickup truck that did not appear hurt.
Police closed down the area and instructed an emergency medical helicopter to land on the highway to transport one critically injured victim to a local hospital by AirCare, according to a Boone County emergency dispatcher. The three other victims of this serious accident were transported by several different ambulances to an area hospital for medical treatment of their injuries.
Police closed Dixie Highway around the accident scene for hours while they investigated the crash, and while firefighters spread petroleum on the ground to absorb materials at the crash scene. Traffic was backed up in both directions.
Police have not released any of the victims’ names or updates on their conditions at this time. Officials are still investigating the cause of this crash, as the accident remains under investigation.
The Northern Kentucky accident attorneys of Schachter, Hendy, & Johnson would like to extend our well wishes to all of the victims following this crash, and we hope they are able to make a complete and speedy recovery.
