One person is dead and two others injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Oldham County, Kentucky. The fatal wreck occurred around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013, on Interstate 71. According to officials, the multi-vehicle crash happened at mile marker 16 on I-71 north.
There were four vehicles involved in this Kentucky crash. Police said that a Chrysler headed southbound on the interstate crossed over the median and crashed into a red Jeep that was traveling northbound. Then, a tractor trailer hit the Chrysler.
The driver of the Chrysler died at the accident scene. He was later identified as 27-year-old Ian Connin, of LaGrange. The driver of the Jeep was injured and transported to University of Louisville Hospital. She was identified as 50-year-old Mary Casebier. Although her name was released, her condition has not been released at this time. The truck driver was not seriously injured in the wreck.
The driver of a fourth vehicle also crashed, as she swerved to avoid the prior accident. She reportedly suffered minor injuries.
One lane of both I-71 south and north were closed for a few hours after the crash. This was just one of the many collisions that occurred on that morning, affecting traffic and making the morning commute for drivers longer than usual.
No charges have been made at this time, and police are investigating the cause of this crash and what caused the Chrysler to cross the median.
Our Northern Kentucky accident attorneys at the Law Office of Schachter, Hendy & Johnson would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Ian Connin, and we would like to wish all those injured full and fast recoveries.
