Family of Six Walks Away From Lebanon Tanker Truck Crash

Posted on Nov 08, 2011
On Saturday, October 29, 2011, a family of six was traveling in a minivan to Lebanon from I-71 and was involved in an Ohio truck crash that shut down SR 123. According to officials, the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of state Route 123 and Redbird Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol said that the tanker truck was traveling south on SR 123 toward I-71 when the driver traveled off the road and attempted to over-correct, causing the truck to overturn. However, the family in the minivan saw the semi truck round the corner at too high a speed and veer over the line. The family then witnessed the semi truck tip over and skid down the road toward their car. Brandon McLaren, the driver of the minivan, slammed on his brakes but could not come to a complete stop before the semi collided into their vehicle.

The minivan was hit by a propane tanker, but fortunately the truck separated from the tanker. The tanker hit the minivan, but did not puncture during the crash. The McLaren family inside the minivan was able to escape this devastating crash. The mother, father, and four children were taken to Arrow Springs Hospital for medical evaluation, and three of the children reportedly suffered minor scrapes and bumps.

The family is amazed that they were able to walk away from such a violent and horrific accident, especially after seeing the damage their vehicle sustained.

The truck driver was not injured in this crash.

Our Ohio accident attorneys at Schachter, Hendy, & Johnson are glad to hear of a happy ending to what could have resulted in a tragic situation.
