Drunk Driver Injures Two in Louisville Hit-and-Run Crash

On Monday, August 29, 2011, a Louisville crash occurred just after 4 o' clock early Monday morning. According to Louisville police, the accident was caused by a drunken driver who fled the scene.
Police indicated that one vehicle rear-ended another car at Greenbelt Highway and Tradeport Drive, causing the motorists in the front vehicle to incur serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle that was hit sustained a laceration to the back of her head, and her passenger suffered critical injuries.
The drunk driver who hit that car continued driving north on Greenbelt Highway, but the vehicle was traveling in the southbound lanes. When officers found Emerson, the drunk driver, he was still driving the wrong direction in southbound lanes. They caught up to him at Cane Run Road and Terry Road and noticed that he smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.
Louisville police had Emerson undergo a field sobriety test, and stated that he failed the test with a blood alcohol content of .240 percent. They arrested him and charged him with first-degree assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain insurance, and first-degree wanton endangerment.
