Cincinnati School Bus Accident Sends 11 Students to the Hospital

A Cincinnati bus accident involving one car sends 11 children to the hospital after a Jeep Grand Cherokee slams into their school bus while attempting to pass a stopped vehicle. The incident took place on Monday morning, March 21, 2011.

According to local police, the school bus was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee while it was making a left turn. The driver of the Jeep has been identified as Mike Downing. It was unclear as to whether Mr. Downing was injured in the collision.

Rescue crews transported 11 Cincinnati students to the hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Fortunately, none of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening, according to police.

The school bus was in route to Orion Academy when the accident occurred. Orion Academy is a Cincinnati Charter school.

Mr. Downing was reportedly behind another vehicle that had stopped for the bus. He attempted to pass the vehicle when he collided with the bus as the bus was making a left turn.

The Cincinnati school bus accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Mr. Downing was cited for making an improper pass.
