Cincinnati News Reports First Lawsuit Filed for Meningitis Caused by Injection Tainted with Fungus

Posted on Oct 18, 2012

The Cincinnati Enquirer has reported that the first lawsuit has been filed as the result of a meningitis infection caused by steroid injections tainted by a deadly fungus.

"As the number of people infected with meningitis continues to rise, a class-action lawsuit has been filed in Minnesota against the company identified as the source of a spinal steroid that has caused 14 deaths in 185 cases. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court on Thursday on behalf of Barbe Puro, charges that New England Compounding Center issued "a fungus contaminated steroid" that was "dangerous and unfit for use."

Cincinnati, Ohio defective drug lawyer, Ron Johnson, is investigating claims for people who have been infected with these tainted injections and developed meningitis.
