Cincinnati Man is Killed by Hit-and-run Driver

A Hamilton County car accident kills a Cincinnati man. The incident took place in Colerain Township north of Cincinnati at approximately 2:30 AM on Saturday morning, October 24, 2009.
The victim, Steven Vaughn, 44, of Cincinnati, was reported being in the center lane of Interstate 74 near Rt. 128 clearing debris from an earlier crash when he was struck by a unidentified black vehicle traveling westbound along the interstate.
According to the Hamilton County sheriff’s office, Vaughn was transported by rescue workers to University Hospital. Vaughn later died due to the injuries he suffered from the hit-and run accident.
According to police, the black vehicle fled the scene after hitting Vaughn. The police also reported that Vaughn was not wearing any reflective safety clothing at the time of the incident.
There were minor injuries reported in the first crash that had just taken place prior to Vaughn being hit.
Local commuters were inconvenienced when the I-74 was shut down until approximately 6:00 AM in the morning while investigators continued to determine the cause of the accident and while crews cleared the two accident scenes.
The Hamilton County hit-and-run accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have indicated that it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
