A Cincinnati car accident involving a police chase causes a pregnant woman to be thrown from a car, claiming the life of her unborn child. According to police, the fleeing car lost control and slammed into several trees. The incident took place on Sunday evening, June 20, 2010.
The driver has been identified as 18-year-old Wesley Fain. Fain allegedly sped away from an intersection after a police officer motioned to him to turn on his headlights. After losing sight of Fain’s vehicle, the officer found the wreckage around a sharp turn.
A 19-year-old pregnant woman was riding in the car at the time of the wreck. The force of the impact ejected her from the car. She has been identified as Jasmine Malone.
Rescue crews transported Malone to a nearby hospital where she was treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Unfortunately, her unborn child was pronounced dead. Police have indicated that Malone was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Police have charged Fain with aggravated vehicular homicide in the fatal crash. It was unclear as to why Fain sped away from police or if he sustained any injuries in the wreck.
The fatal Cincinnati auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
This is an unfortunate incident and we extend our thoughts and condolences to Ms. Malone during this difficult time. We also wish her a speedy recovery.
