This Kentucky accident occurred on Versailles Road and Rice Road, near the Blue Grass Airport. Sadly, this crash claimed the life of a 23-year-old man.
Police believe that this man lost control of his car and crossed the median, causing his car to spin 180 degrees. While his white Chrysler was spinning, an oncoming car crashed into the Chrysler from behind.
Authorities later identified the driver of the Chrysler as Evan Lounsbury, of Lexington.
The two people in the black Ford Taurus did survive the wreck, but they were injured. William Goggin, the driver of the other car, and his female passenger were transported to UK Hospital for medical care.
Lexington police closed down Versailles Road after this fatal crash, and it took investigators and cleanup crews almost six hours to reopen it. This street closure caused major traffic problems in the area for morning commuters.
Investigators are still unsure as to why Lounsbury lost control of his vehicle. Lexington police do not believe alcohol was involved, but they think speed may have been a factor in this accident.
Schachter, Hendy, & Johnson would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Evan Lounsbury.
