Another name for Erb's Palsy is Brachial Plexus Palsy (BPI). The reason Erb's Palsy is also known as BPI is because this type of injury affects nerves called the brachial plexus, which runs from the spinal column to the arm and shoulder muscles. This large network of nerves causes the arm and hand to move. When these nerves are damaged at birth, a child could suffer total or partial paralysis to these body parts.
