In certain types of litigation, many people suffer similar injuries as a result of their use of a drug, like Xarelto. In these instances, parties may ask for all of those cases to be transferred to one judge for further proceedings. This coordination is called a Multidistrict Litigation ("MDL"). MDLs increase efficiency in litigation among many other benefits.
On December 12, 2014, a panel of federal judges decided to coordinate the Xarelto litigation in a MDL. The Xarelto MDL #2592 was assigned to Judge Eldon Fallon of the Eastern District of Louisiana. Judge Fallon is a very well-respected judge with extensive experience in handling large-scale pharamaceutical litigation.
Over the next several months, Judge Fallon will begin establishing the guidelines for the Xarelto MDL. Schachter, Hendy & Johnson will be working with other Plaintiffs counsel from across the country to help get the best orders for our clients.
